Five beats

Built from the ground up

Scroll to turn the shoe through the five parts that make it work, from the outsole to the heel. Use the numbers on the right to jump to any part.

  1. 01 Beat one of five

    Outsole

Rubber that grips wet concrete and still weighs almost nothing.

    Compound
    KR-7 carbon rubber, 62 Shore A
    Lug depth
3.2 mm in the forefoot, 2.6 mm in the heel
    Rubber coverage
41 percent, placed where the foot pushes off

The outsole is cut away under the arch to save weight. Rubber stays only on the zones that touch the ground: the outer heel, the ball of the foot and the toe. The pattern sheds water to the sides instead of trapping it.

The KS-01 tipped up to show its white outsole, with a strip of the knit upper at the edge. The KS-01 tipped up to show its white outsole, with a strip of the knit upper at the edge. The KS-01 tipped up to show its white outsole, with a strip of the knit upper at the edge.
  2. 02 Beat two of five

    Midsole

Two foams, one stack, an 8 mm drop.

    Foam density
    0.14 g/cm3 soft layer over a 0.21 g/cm3 firm layer
    Stack height
34 mm at the heel, 26 mm at the forefoot
    Drop
    8 mm

The soft layer sits against your foot and takes the first impact. The firm layer underneath stops the shoe from bottoming out and returns the energy. Together they feel soft at the first step and stable at the fortieth minute.

  3. 03 Beat three of five

    Upper

One piece of knit with three zones, so there are no seams to rub.

    Toe box
Open knit, 11 percent more airflow than the midfoot
    Midfoot
Dense knit that holds the foot without pressure points
    Material
    71 percent recycled polyester yarn

The knit is made in a single piece on a flat bed machine. The toe box is open so your foot can spread. The midfoot is tight so it stays put. The heel is stiffer so it holds its shape after hundreds of kilometres.

  4. 04 Beat four of five

    Lacing

A lockdown system that holds the foot without crushing it.

    Eyelets
7 per side, with a heel lock loop at the top
    Laces
Flat woven, 9 mm wide, 140 cm long
    Internal strap
Knit cage that pulls the midfoot toward the heel

Flat laces spread the pressure across the top of the foot. An internal strap links the lowest eyelets to the heel, so tightening the laces also pulls the heel back into its pocket. The top loop gives you a third lock if you want one.

    Heel

A firm counter and a pull tab you can find with one finger.

    Counter
    Molded TPU, 2.2 mm thick
    Pull tab
Woven loop, rated to 40 kg
    Collar
Padded with 6 mm of open cell foam

The counter keeps your heel from rolling inward. The collar is padded just enough to stop slip without feeling bulky. The pull tab is stitched through the counter so it will not tear off on a rushed morning.

Signal in detail

Signal is built to be seen. The orange red is the same shade used on road signs, chosen so drivers notice you at dusk. It is the colourway most people reserve first, so its sizes move fastest.

Sizing guide

Find your size

The KS-01 runs true to size, with a standard D width. If your foot falls between two sizes, take the larger one.

  1. Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall.
  2. Mark the tip of your longest toe and measure from the wall to the mark, in millimetres.
  3. Find that length in the table and add 5 mm of room if you wear thick socks.

Questions

Before you reserve

All questions
When does the drop open?

The countdown at the top of the home page shows the exact time in your own time zone. You can reserve pairs before it reaches zero. Your hold starts when the drop opens, not when you reserve.

How many pairs are there?

There are 1,200 pairs in total, 400 in each of the three colourways: Chalk, Midnight and Signal. Each pair is numbered inside the tongue. We will not restock this run.

Will there be another drop?

Yes. The next drop is a new colourway on the same last. Join the waitlist and tell us your size and favourite colourway so we can plan quantities. We email the waitlist before anyone else.

Do I pay when I reserve?

No. Reserving holds your pairs for 48 hours from the moment the drop opens. Payment is a separate step after that. This site is a demonstration, so it stops at the reservation: no payment is taken and no email is sent.

How many pairs can I reserve?

Two pairs per reservation, in any colourways and sizes. The limit keeps the drop fair. Each pair is its own line in your cart, so you can choose a different size and colourway for each.

What if a size sells out while I am reserving?

Stock is checked at the moment you press Reserve. If a pair has gone, nothing is held, and the cart shows which line to change. Pick another size or colourway and try again.
